The Island of Hvar

We got picked up from the wharf by our host who took us up the hostel. We were given a 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchen and bathroom with balconies overlooking the ocean – heaven! Over the next 3 days we got sunburnt sitting by the ocean on sun lounges, ate delicious seafood at restaurants by the water, sat in a garden for hours chatting over a delicious dinner, watched the sunset, went on a vespa adventure all over the island (having a near death experience as we rode around cliff faces with no guard rails and I continued to drive on the wrong side of the road), discovered little towns and beaches everywhere, shopped and ate ice-cream. The weather was amazing and such a treat after the rain. It was the beach holiday we were desperate for. Best times.

A particular memorable (had-to-be-there) moment was while we were sitting on our balcony with a glass of wine and it tips off the table onto the balcony. We thought no damage was caused until we looked down and saw the girls in the balcony below using a magazine to keep the dripping spillage from hitting them (see insert).
