The boys left the following day so Heather and I decided to make the most of it and go sightseeing. I was pretty thrilled to be feeling better so we went and saw some of the Gaudi architecture that is scattered through the city. We first went to Sagrada Familia – a church – I loved how interesting the architecture was – so crazy. We then went to Parc Güell which is perched atop a huge hill overlooking the city. I was fairly amused by the escalators in the middle of the street to make it possible for unfit tourists to make it up there, they looked so out of place but I'm not going to lie, I was pretty grateful for them. The park was crazy, it had really funky statues and all these other colourful, crazy structures. In the pm we went to Placa d'Espanya, once used for public hangings but during the summer it now has a fountain show at night. We could’ve sat there all night – the music was great, the fountains amazing and the atmosphere buzzing.
All in all I loved what I saw in Barcelona, despite the fact I freaked out about being pick-pocketed pretty much the entire time. Would’ve loved to have seen more of it!!
