POW

What a day! Ripping through powder all day. So many adventures, amazing minestrone soup at the Hilton, gondolas, meat-hook lifts, out of bounds areas and very rosy red cheeks when the day was done. Off the slopes at 5pm and my crazy brother is still out there. WHAT A DAY!

Ice Bar Experience

We decided to tackle the ice bar. Such a fun! Drinks are served in ice of course you sit in what looks like an ice living room (ice sculptures, ice seats and lounges, ice tables etc). However, it didn't take us long to realise why the second drink is half price (esp. when you don't come armed with gloves). It's like sitting in a freezer! The photos should speak for themselves but here's the quote that is written on the door - i enjoyed it... “In Spring, this ice will melt and soak back into the ground. The water holds the memories of human beings this winter, and takes them back to the Earth. It appears in the ground again to nurture all living things.”

A Very White Welcome

Okay for starters, Niseko is a skiier's paradise, truly a winter wonderland. Words do not suffice when attempting the articulate how incredible this place is. It takes my canadian experience to a whole 'nother level. It is beautiful and magical and very very white.

Skiing here is powder on powder on powder ALL day. No one is punished here for sleeping in. It does snow pretty much all day though. Luckily the snow is forgiving and even if you slip up in the whiteout conditions you fall onto a pillow of snow. Just to give you an idea, Matty was coming down a pretty steep face yesterday and his ski clipped off (i would say he fell but he didn't and he'd give me crap if i didn't make that one clear). Anywho, it literally took over 15minutes of searching to find his ski. It was completely buried. We looked such weirdos walking around stabbing the snow with our poles praying we'd hit something solid.

Okay so that's probably enough of that.

Update on everything else: we're all well except for very sore legs from following matty through the trees, food has been incredible, its cold (good Vienna prepping), the locals are oh so kind, bars are cute and i caught up with my darling friend katie last night who is here ski instructing for the season - a delight.

Ok love you and leave you....

Spot the Aussie

Fish Markets Closed

A 5am start for nothing?!? What's to do now? Not even the shops open until 11am here. I guess it's time to wait for somewhere to open for breakfast...

Shopping in a Nightclub?

Shopping in Abercrombie - wow what an insane experience. Welcomed by shirtless "hunks"(as they are referred) and ultra loud music, you are packed into the lift like sardines and escorted up to level 7 (of 11). Every shop assistant is dancing non-stop. Once you finally work your way back to the ground level (which Dad ensured occurred hastily) a polaroid photo is taken with a shirtless european hottie as a keepsake. Needless to say, the experience FREAKED out dad, had mum laughing the entire time, had matty unsure and just quietly I loved it....

The Land of the Rising Sun

Hello Tokyo. I have a few things to mention of the journey thus far. Suitcases are heavy, pretty sure I scored the one with the ski boots. Mum got very involved with the on-board stretching exercises - embarrassing to say the least. The sun is pink. 'Foreign' sounds a lot like 'boring' in a jap accent. The man at quarantine kept chanting 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie' while we waited in line - so cute. But then while running for the train I left my ticket in the machine. I blame my hayfever which has my eyes watering so bad im near blinded (people avoid me because they think i've got the swine). We have already got lost countless times but I LOVE this place and I can really see myself getting into this whole blogging thing.
